Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about onion storage, grading, and packing processes.

Are your onions locally sourced?

Yes! Most of our onions come from Essex, Suffolk, South Norfolk and North Kent, so all East Anglia based! We also import some specialist varieties from our partner growers in Spain.

How are onions packed?

We have a lot of different pack formats, from 200 grams to 500 kilos so please reach out to the team to see if we can help!

How are onions graded?

Our onions are graded using 2 different types of graders, we have the traditional mechanical grader which is a series of different sized holes which the onions then fall through. The onions are then quality graded too to get rid of any that do not meet our customers specifications.

We also use a state of the art, 8 lane optical grader which uses camera and AI technology to size and quality grade onions. You can find out more by clicking here.

How are onions stored?

Onions are stored in 2 ways, either in bulk or in boxes. The onions are all treated the same between the 2 storage options and can be stored for up to 10 months!
